Focus, pocus!

Focus, pocus!

Anyone who already knows me understands I’m a big fan of objectives. I mean, it is my mission to help business people focus on theirs, to help them take the next step towards their business goals.

However, the truth is, I also feel overwhelmed and confused at times.

As a business owner, I do tend to get bogged down, looking at several things at once which makes it hard for me to focus on one idea at a time.

Here’s the thing though, you can’t get far trying to build multiple ideas at one time.

I know, obvious isn't it! :)

Then the penny dropped. I realised that I don’t necessarily have to give up those extra things (some of them far more exciting and shiny than the task at hand) but I do need to have a priority and a main goal.

One objective at a time.

Everything else needs to be parked until I’m done completing one idea, and then I can move onto the next. And so on.

Some years ago, I took myself out of my comfort zone and joined a group of branding experts. It was something that I had considered for a while, and I finally accepted that the next big goal was to focus on making our online Brand Discovery Workshops the best, the leanest and the most effective that they could be.

I put my fear aside, and put my money, focus, and time into the mix and signed up.

I was now committed to focus on one goal.

The clarity of having that one goal enabled me to understand exactly what I needed to do in order to get where I needed to be, instead of being completely overwhelmed.

So the next time you feel overwhelmed with all the things that you need to do for your business, focus on the most important task at hand first.

The one that will move you forward the most steps.

One idea at a time.

From my experience, i’m now seeing that I’m able to define what my goal is in other aspects of my life, and can clear that feeling of confusion a lot quicker.

And that's what they call progress, right?
